If you like a story with twists, “Wrong Place, Wrong Time” by Gillian McAllister has you covered.
Picture this, a woman watches through the window as her 18-year-old son comes home the night before Halloween. A stranger emerges from the darkness, and before she can do anything to stop it, her son has committed a murder, right there on the street of their average family home.
Only the next day, she wakes up the day before the crime.
This intriguing and unique mystery/thriller follows a mother’s journey backwards through time as she searches for all the clues she missed to help understand who the murdered man is, how he was connected to her family, and what could have driven her son to kill.
Thornton Book Club Review
Essa Public Library’s Thornton Book Club gave it an average rating of 4 out of 5 stars. For some readers, the time travel element made it too much of a science fiction read, while others enjoyed the unique structure of the novel.
One member said, “I read this in two days. Usually it takes me a month to read a book.”
“I couldn’t put it down,” said another. “It was really exciting.”
Though a little slow to begin, this book definitely picks up the pace – and the stakes – with each chapter. And when you think there couldn’t possibly be one more twist, the next one will sneak up on you and your jaw will be back on the floor.
