Join 8 Simcoe County libraries as they celebrate National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and support writers on their journey to write a novel in one month with space to write, access to Wifi, computers, resources, and virtual socials/write-ins and events. Participating libraries include; Barrie, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Essa, Innisfil, Midland, New Tecumseth, Ramara, and Wasaga Beach.

National Novel Writing Month is held every November. The challenge? To write a novel or 50,000 words in thirty days! In honour of this, libraries across Simcoe County have put together a wide range of virtual events and programs to help you on your writing journey. From write-ins and author talks to Beanstack programs and Bingo cards. Each library has something to offer, in addition to great spaces and resources that can be used in-house or at home all month long.
The Essa Public Library is hosting local author Tracy L. Ward. We'll be talking about the world of self-publishing and Tracy will be on hand to share her experience writing and editing her novels. There are three other author talks hosted by the New Tecumseth Public Library, Wasaga Beach Public Library, and the Barrie Public Library.
We've also got virtual write-ins. Join other writers throughout the country and participate in writing sprints, share ideas and encouragement with other writers and keep yourself motivated to finish your stories. You don't have to be officially registered with NaNoWriMo.org to join in on any of these programs, we'd love to have you join us. To see what's happening for this month, visit our event calendar. Registration links are included.

A few quick facts about NaNoWriMo!
1) This non-profit organization was created to give budding writers community support in completing their goal or writing a novel.
2) Most participants don't finish, but NaNoWriMo has created such a great environment that not finishing is okay too. You've tried to accomplish something great!
3) You don't have to be signed up with NaNoWriMo.org to participate in any of the programs and events we are running.
NaNoWriMo has become a writing hub for professional writers and aspiring writers too. Some well-known and best-selling titles were created during this yearly event, including Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen.
