Who doesn't love treasure hunting?! The thrill of the journey, the elation of the find! Geocaching is often called real-life treasure hunting...except you trade for treasure (called Swag) instead of just taking it.

Geocache containers come in a variety of sizes from micro to large. It's thrilling to seek them to sign each log with your 'X' (your geocaching name) to prove you were there. You get a Smiley on the map after you log your find in the Geocaching.com app.

There's so much variety within the game that you can find your own niche. Do you love canoeing, kayaking, or scuba diving? There are water geocaches. Do you love long hikes up tall peaks? There are mountain geocaches. Do you prefer retail therapy? There are urban geocaches hidden near malls and large stores. There are more than 3 million geocaches hidden worldwide! Depending on where you live, there is probably a geocache in or near your town...there are quite a few hidden in Angus and Thornton. There is even a geocache hidden at each of the Angus and Thornton library branches!

If you would like to learn more about geocaching, you can watch the 'Geocaching Basics' playlist on the Geocaching Headquarters YouTube channel.
