Some geocaches are hidden in densely-populated urban areas and some are hidden in out-of-the-way wilderness areas. If you find a spot with a nice view (waterfalls, mountaintops, caves, etc.), there is likely to be a geocache there.

My all-time favourite geocache so far is GCC#003 Damsel in Distress, which is located in Wilberforce, Ontario and is part of a 150-geocache tour of the Geocaching Capital of Canada. Damsel in Distress is a fun and creative wooden "castle" located in the graphite mine ruins. You have to find the key to unlock the "castle", find another key to "rescue" the princess who holds the key to the "treasure". Oh, and you have to cross a dam in order to get to the "castle" in the first place.

My second favourite geocache is Dragon's Breath, located in the Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area near Singhampton, Ontario. You have to climb down into a crevice in the Niagara Escarpment then reach above your head into the mouth of the "dragon" to find the geocache.

No matter how well you think you know a town and/or area, going to find a geocache will probably introduce you to a trail, pioneer cemetery, or historical location you never would have known about otherwise.
